best 35mm film for summer

it’s proimage 100 from kodak.

there. you can now not read the rest of this post and head over to your favorite film source and drop a 5 pack into your cart!

I wish they had this film in 120.

it’s soooo nice and the colors are lovely! they are warm and vibrant but not in a garrish or in a what-happened-to-the-white-balance kinda way.

in these photos, i’m using a promist filter at a high strength, might be 1. and love the effect. it’s dreamy. it feels like summer.

proimage was a film specifically formulated to handle the hot and humid weather which makes it an easy choice in that climate.

last summer was a lot of running around the local area trying to find worthy material for film and youtube videos.

this summer has been spent mainly in my backgarden, growing these incredible plants and eating freshly picked organic produce that i freikin grew myself!

delicious.

the 2025 list:

beans, corn, cucumbers, wildflowers, tomatoes, kale, cabbage, lettuce, zinnias, calendula, bergamot, basil, oregano, rosemary, blueberries, dill, peppers, snapdragons, bee balm, chamomile, marshmallow, thyme, lemon balm, st. john’s wort, yarrow, squash, marigolds, dijon mustard, onions, leeks, amaranth, quinoa, potatoes, cleavers, tarragon, stevia, carrots, nasturtiums, peppermint, spearmint, and sugar pumpkins!!

my chickens got most of the kale and now they are onto the cucumbers, they love it. of course, i don’t let them roam the garden and carefully watch how many treats they get but all the extras that i can’t eat fast enough, they are more than happy to chomp through.

i really love how this film handles greens as well, it’s a lovely color. of course, this can change depending on what scanner or system is used to digitize the negatives, but in general i’ve only ever had amazing results from the lab with proimage.

currently, my go-to is Boston Film lab aka CatLabs.
